Laying on Your Left Side - A Simple Shift, Big Relief
It’s pretty amazing how effective laying on your left side can be. I’ve used this method for years, and it still surprises me how many people don’t know about this simple, powerful approach. Lying on your left side with your legs bent can help alleviate:
-Stomach pain
-Acid reflux and heartburn
-Bloating and gas
-Digestive discomfort
-Circulation issues
What’s really cool is that the relief is often immediate, especially when dealing with an upset stomach. (And just a heads-up — if it’s gas cramps, this position usually gets things moving… if you know what I mean.)
These are just some of the benefits that show how the position of our bodies can make a huge difference. There’s even emergency response training that teaches caregivers to place people on their left side in certain scenarios — that’s how widely recognized it is. So next time you’re feeling nauseous, crampy, or like your stomach’s a mess, give this a try. It doesn’t get any easier — and like I said, the results are usually fast. I don’t claim to know everything, but I do know this has helped me — and countless others I’ve shared it with — again and again.
To make it more comfortable, I like to:
-Put one pillow under my head
-Hug another between my arms
-Place a third between my bent knees
Even my kids have noticed the difference after using this method when they’ve overeaten or felt queasy.
